WebJul 11, 2008 · Not all motorcycles have rear axles secured with a castle nut with a cotter pin. My Suzuki GSX 1100G had a hardened washer and a plain axle nut on top of it torqued to 90 ft-lbs. No castle nut or cotter pin. In fact, you could substitute a hardened grade 8 washer and properly torqued hardened nut for the castle nut and cotter pin.
